Farmers who received the 23rd installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in June are now asking when the next Rs 2,000 will land in their accounts. The government has not announced an official date for the 24th installment yet, but the scheme’s payment pattern gives a reliable window to work with.

What is PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central government income support scheme for landholding farmer families. It pays Rs 6,000 a year, split into three installments of Rs 2,000 each, transferred directly to bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The scheme has run since February 2019 and covers husband, wife, and minor children as a single family unit for eligibility.

The 23rd installment: what already happened

The government released the 23rd installment on 20 June 2026. More than 9.44 crore farmers received the payment, and the total amount transferred crossed Rs 18,880 crore. This followed the 22nd installment, which Prime Minister Modi released from Guwahati, Assam, on 13 March 2026. That round moved Rs 18,640 crore to about 9.32 crore farmers and pushed the scheme’s cumulative disbursal past Rs 4.27 lakh crore since launch.

When will the 24th installment arrive

PM-KISAN runs on a four-month cycle: April to July, August to November, and December to March. Each installment is released once its four-month window closes. Since the 23rd installment covered the April-July period and was paid in June, the 24th installment covers August to November and is expected in October 2026.

Multiple government-linked and financial advisory sources point to the same window, though none carry an official confirmed date as of late July 2026. The Union Budget for 2026-27 allocated Rs 60,000 crore for PM-KISAN, which confirms the scheme continues at full scale going into this cycle.

Eligibility criteria

A farmer family qualifies if it meets these conditions:

  • Owns cultivable land registered in state or revenue land records
  • Land is in the name of the farmer, spouse, or their minor children
  • Family does not fall under the scheme’s exclusion list (income tax payers, government employees above a certain grade, professionals like doctors and engineers registered with their bodies, and a few other categories)

Land ownership alone does not guarantee payment. The record has to match what is on file with the state land department, and the farmer’s Aadhaar, bank account, and mobile number all need to be linked correctly.

How to check your PM Kisan status

  1. Go to pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Click “Beneficiary Status” on the homepage.
  3. Enter your registration number, Aadhaar number, or registered mobile number.
  4. Click “Get Data” to view your payment history and status.

Farmers can also check the “Know Your Status” option directly, or watch for an SMS from “PM-KISAN-BNFT” when the amount is credited, or check their bank passbook or UPI app.

Why installments get delayed

Most payment holds trace back to one of these:

  • Incomplete e-KYC (OTP, biometric, or through the PM Kisan mobile app)
  • Aadhaar not linked to the bank account
  • Bank account details entered incorrectly during registration
  • Land record mismatch between the portal and the state revenue department
  • Farmer falling under an exclusion category after a records update

Completing e-KYC is the step most farmers miss, and it is also the fastest one to fix through the official portal or app.

FAQ

Q1.When will the PM Kisan 24th installment come in 2026? The government has not announced an exact date. Based on the four-month cycle, it is expected in October 2026.

Q2.How much will farmers get in the 24th installment? Rs 2,000 per eligible farmer family, matching every previous installment amount.

Q3.How do I check if I received the 23rd installment? Visit pmkisan.gov.in, click “Beneficiary Status,” and enter your Aadhaar number, registration number, or mobile number.

Q4.What is the PM Kisan KYC last date? There is no fixed last date. e-KYC has to stay completed on an ongoing basis for each installment; farmers who skip it get held back from that round’s payment.

Q5.Why did I not get my PM Kisan installment? The most common reasons are pending e-KYC, an Aadhaar-bank linkage mismatch, incorrect bank details, or a land record discrepancy. Check your status on the portal to see which one applies.
